WTC
Tonight I've been digitizing clips and interviews for the movie World Trade Center. In the work I do, I see a lot of material like this for use for publicizing the movie. It's coming out August 9th.
I've noted a couple things about this movie, beyond the obvious fact it takes place during one of the most infamous events in U.S. history. While this is a story directly related to the disaster of 9/11, the plot centers around two N.Y. Port Authority policemen who survived the collapse of one of the towers at the World Trade Center. I cannot directly recall hearing about their story. I'm certain it was mentioned in the news coverage. But like many major events, it is difficult to remember one story among the many others from that day.
The second thing I found out was Oliver Stone directed this film. If I followed movies closely, I probably would have known that fact. In the past, Oliver Stone has always been in the forefront of the movies he has directed. Sometimes he was larger than the movie itself. This time it doesn't appear to be the case. It 's almost like he has intentionally stayed in the background.
Perhaps its still too soon to make a movie about 9/11. Yet, even though we know how its going to end, I think it will probably get people to pay their money and go and see it. Maybe we can find some good out of a tragic event.
